Tribulation
I wish I could write
to express my grief, my loss,
But even that has been denied me.
Then, in my plain sight
You hang there, upon Your cross
Where all but three have abandoned Thee.
Compared to Your libation
my sacrifice is insignificant, too.
Yet still to help me, You deign.
Your death and passion
reconciled me to You:
The pain you bore is mine.
I beg of You for comfort, Lord
That I know I don't deserve.
Yet naught I get but sorrow more
Because I'm here to serve.
Your gift instead is the two-edged sword;
Truth to set me free
So I know that if You love me, Lord
You'll nail me next to Thee.

Zephyrus Animi
Are forests gladdened to be moved by the wind?
Or does the grass rejoice when a breeze ripples through it?
Yet I, O Lord, quiver with delight
as you stir within my soul.
Such a brief guest you seem to be,
always passing by
never remaining too long.
I know naught of where you've been.
And where you are bound lies cloaked in mystery.
But here and now, Thou, gentle breath,
remain in my heart
and quicken my life
before you move on into newness.
