MAY 22, 2005

Thirteen members of the “Cuzn’ Planning Committee” gathered at the home of Alan and Jolanda Kuzma in Lincoln on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Those that joined the Kuzma’s were Marshall and Gail Kohtz, Eugene and Mary Kohtz, Don Dahlgren, Dennis Dahlgren, Fred and Lori Ehlers, Tim Junge and Doug and Marilyn Dey.

Minutes were read and corrections were made. Tim Junge, Treasurer, reported that 101 persons have registered, to date. Marshall reported that e-mail addresses are being updated weekly. The website is working well, as is Pay Pal. It was suggested that as family members moved to new locations it would be appreciated if they would forward new information to Marshall so that it’s not such a big project to update the list every 5 years. Marshall will be doing the “FINAL” e-mail regarding the upcoming deadline of June 1st.

Committee Reports:

Site Coordinator: Marilyn reported that there is still one suite available at the Holiday Inn and that 20 rooms have been reserved. She reported that the 20’ x 40’ tent will be set on the northeast corner of the hotel grounds, by the trees and will be available Friday A.M. through Sunday P.M. Marilyn will check with Kyle about the access to 110 or 220 electricity for the band as well as the P.A. system. She will also inquire about a riser for the band on Friday night.

Greeters: It was agreed that having “Greeters” in the lobby of the Holiday Inn, on Friday, to direct family as they arrive for the weekend, would be helpful. “Greeters” will take 2 hour shifts, starting at 8:00 a.m., till supper. Kent and Ellen Junge, Paul and Connie Toohey, Garl and Karen Worthington, John and Carey Junge, Jennifer Doane and Mary Beth Jacobs. will be asked to participate in this capacity. There may be others that will volunteer.

Set-Up Time: Sunday, July 17th, at 2:00 P.M., has been scheduled to make final preparations at the Holday Inn and putting together the “Goodie Bags”. These bags may be stored in the “Board Rom” until the reunion starts on Friday. Committee members are encouraged to arrive on Thursday afternoon, July 21st, to help set up the Registration Area as well as the Memorabilia Tables and other items in the large “Conference Center”. Doug volunteered to help Tim at the registration table checking family members in, upon their arrival.

Goodie Bags: Marilyn has some of the large grocery bags with handles left from the 2000 Reunion. We will know the number of bags needed after the 1st of June.

Memory Gift - Bookmark: Don reported that he has all the pieces cut from the apple tree branches that Jolanda provided for the bookmark. Lori is helping obtain the ribbon. The Committee will assemble the memory gift on July 17th.

Logo Adjustment: Lori will contact J & M Monogram and have them e-mail Jolanda a smaller logo for use on the name tags and other items .

Memorabilia Tables: These tables will be set up in the “Conference Room” and will be skirted. Grandma Lena’s wedding dress will also be on display. Marilyn will take responsibility for the special family memorabilia in the “Old Trunk”. Family members are invited to bring items that they would like to display that would be of interest to all. Each family is asked to bring their personal videos and DVDs to play on the big screen television.

Golf Tournament: It was reported that 5 people have signed up for the Golf Tournament at the York Country Club.

Culinary Report: Jolanda showed the Committee the colored sheets of tickets for the different meals, for the adults, as well as the children. These tickets will be made available in small ziplock bags in each families’ “Goodie Bag”. The tickets will be collected by the hotel staff at the time each meal is served.

Friday Night Barbeque: It sounds like everything is set for the evening. Gene and Alan, and others, will help serve the meat. The hotel will have servers available to make sure that the side orders are continually filled. Gail is in charge of finding “spoons” for the evening’s entertainment. No action taken in regard to ordering the bandanas for the evening, as we need to have a final number of registrations.

T-Shirt Report: At this time there is nothing to report.

Family Time at the Prayer Chapel: Marshall will contact Chris Kohtz about having him help with the organized program. It was suggested to have each of the aunts and uncle have a specific amount of time to share. We were reminded that this is not a church service. Jolanda asked that this event be recorded by video for future use. Marilyn suggested that the hymn “Faith of Our Fathers” be used as a closing hymn and then a prayer. Marilyn will provide copies of the hymn at the door as everyone arrives.

Tree Planting: Marilyn reported that Todd Faller will provide 5 shovels, one for each of the surviving siblings of Otto and Lena Junge, Wally, Laura, Gladys, Betty and Ruth Ann, to participate in the planting of the 6 - 8 ft. Sun Valley Maple in memory of the “Family of Otto and Lena Junge”. The tree will be planted in the center of the York College Campus near the wishing well.

Family Photo: Don reported that he will be talking with the City Office to make sure that it will be o.k. to use the west steps of the City Auditorium to have the family photo taken. The photo will be taken immediately following the planting of the tree. Questions have come up as to how to interpret the order form for the individual family photos. The picture size is 1 4 x 6 print of each the 11 families for a total charge of $10.00. If anyone wants more prints of an individual picture copies can be made.

History Tour: Patty has volunteered to retype the History Tour that was put together by Raymond for the 1993 Reunion. She, Jim, and Jolanda have come up with some pretty clever ideas to make this tour one that you won’t want to miss.

Cookies/Pastries: Kent and Ellen have offered to bring an assortment of cookies from their Cookie Company. Matt Harlow has been training as a French Pastry Chef at The Villager in Lincoln and offered to bring out samples of his pastry expertise. Marilyn will check to see how much food is permitted to come into the hotel.

Saturday Night Banquet: All set

Baby Parade: Marilyn reports that this is going to be a great event as right now we have the possibility of at least 28 and maybe 29 babies. The parents and grandparents will also participate. It will be a fun time. Jolanda suggested that this portion also be videotaped.

Introductions/Pictures: Jolanda and Marshall need to talk this over as to who is going to do what. Time will be allocated for pictures to be taken of the “Male First Cousins”, “Female First Cousins” and the “Junge Men” and whatever group shots are requested.

Talent Show: Dennis reported that he talked with some family members at Ray’s funeral and there seems to be some interest shown. He will have more to report at the next meeting.

Gift Exchange: Mary reported that the exchange will be very simple and quick, by assigning and drawing numbers for each gift. It was suggested that as the gift is received it should be opened and shown to everyone.

Memorial and Worship Service: Families that are in charge say that they have everything under control. Marshall will coordinate the event. Marilyn and John will be borrowing a cross for the service from Mary Doremus at the “True Vine” made of a tree and draped with a purple cloth and a crown of thorns. Marshall will look into renting a keyboard for the service.

History Book Updates: Marilyn reported that the information for the History Books has been slow in coming in, but since we are getting close to the June 1st deadline things would probably be picking up.

Timeline/Picture Wall: Jim and Marilyn are in contact with each other and as soon as Marilyn has information she will forward it to Jim. Jim suggested a casual, more recent picture of each of the siblings of Otto and Lena and their mates, so that the younger generation has some connection with their Uncles and Aunts or even their Great Uncles or Great Aunts.

Name Tags: Tammy Toohey will be in charge of the name tags for the Reunion and her sisters, Teresa and Michele will be her assistants for this project. The town and State that each attendee is from will also be included on the nametag.

Children’s Activities: This will include ages up to 6 or 7 years old. Jeanie, Mary, Gin and Dina have volunteered to provide entertainment for the children in this age bracket. They are hopeful that they can get these children together on Friday evening so Saturday’s playtime will be some-thing that they look forward to.

The Reunion Information Booklet: This booklet will be filled with some very vital information. Jan, Marshall, Jolanda and Marilyn will be instrumental collecting the information and coming together to assemble the materials.

Wheelchairs: Fred volunteered to check with the veteran’s office in York to have available 2 or 3 wheelchairs for the service of anyone that is not able to get around as readily as needed.

New Business: Marilyn talked with Melanie Wilkerson of the York News Times paper in York, NE as she would like to cover the preparation of the Reunion at our Sunday gathering at the Holiday Inn. Melanie covered the reunion in 2000 and did a great job. Marilyn offered a copy of the Junge Crest to be used in connection with the “Information Booklet”. The question was asked if we wanted the Junge Crest on the cover of the booklet. A decision will be made later. It was suggested to add the name tags, Kids’ time, rental of keyboard and photo copying to the budget expenses.

The meeting was adjourned and Jolanda served ice tea, lemonade and cake.

Our next meeting will be Monday evening, June 13th, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. at Jolanda and Alan’s home. Chicken will be ordered in for a picnic supper.

Respectfully yours,
Rosalie S. Hillmer

APRIL 10, 2005

Twelve members of the “Cuzn’ Planning Committee” gathered at the Garden Gate in York at 2:00 on Sunday afternoon. Those present were: Jolanda Kuzma, Marshall and Gail Kohtz, Eugene and Mary Kohtz, Don Dahlgren, Dennis Dahlgren, Lori Ehlers, Tim Junge, Rosalie Hillmer and Doug and Marilyn Dey.

The minutes were read by each person in attendance and an unanimous vote was placed to accept them as written. Tim reported that a total of $630.00 had been received as “Reunion fees” and there were expenses of $253.23 which left a balance of $376.77. He reported that 43 families have sent in their assessments. The Treasurers report was accepted.

Marshall reported that he and Jan Sabin have been communicating to make sure that all home addresses, phone numbers and internet e-mail addresses of family members are now up-to-date.

Jolanda shared with the group, some of the difficulties of getting the website up and running. It will be completed and ready for everyone to complete in the near future.

Committee Reports:

Site Coordinator: Marilyn reported that 16 rooms have been reserved by family members. The Holiday Inn is holding 80 rooms for us. The last report was that all the suites are reserved.

Big Screen TV - VCR/DVD: Don reported that he had rented a big screen TV for $100.00 for the entire weekend from Lichti TV Appliance & Furniture.

Registration: Tim reported that more registrations were beginning to come in.

Goodie Bags: Jolanda asked Marilyn to e-mail Lori Rutherford to thank her for her offer to help with the “Goodie Bags”. The bags will all be filled the Sunday afternoon before the reunion begins.

Memory Gift - bookmark: Jolanda brought branches from her apple orchard to use in making the bookmarkers. Don offered to cut the sticks in small pieces which will be assembled at a later date.

Culinary Report: Jolanda suggested that all children under 3 years of age be charged $1.00 for their meals. Dennis reviewed the menus and the cost of each meal. The Saturday evening buffet has been adjusted to $16.00 for the adult meal. If there is a problem with the price make it clear that that price includes tax and gratuity. The Holiday Inn is not charging us for the use of the banquet room. Colored meal tickets will be made and placed in the packets for everyone’s convenience.

Tent Rental: Marilyn reported that she had rented a 20’ x 40’ foot tent with open side, from Lannie Cross at “Time Rental” for $275.00. They will set the tent up on Friday and they will leave it up all weekend for that price. The tent was rented under the name, Junge Family Reunion so, she did not need to make a down payment to hold it for that date.

Bandanas: Jolanda suggested that every family wear a colored bandana that matches their family t-shirt color. More checking will be done as far as price and if it is something that is feasible.

Friday Night Bar-B-Que: Lori report that Lonnie Roth thought that 85 lbs. of meat would be sufficient. He will cook and slice the meat and prepare the BBQ sauce. Jolanda offered to bring her Volleyball Set for entertain ment following the outdoor meal

Tree Planting: Marilyn reported that she had talked with Todd Faller of Faller Nursery at York. Todd talked with Bob Gaver. He is in charge of landscaping and caring for the York College Campus. All the landscaping has been completed around the “Prayer Chapel” so she asked about another location. To plant a tree in remembrance of our loved ones. Mr. Gaver would like a tree that would be very showy in the early fall and a tree that would provide nice shade. Incidently, the Junge Family will be making a special contribution as no one has ever offered to plant a tree at York College. Todd Faller suggested a “Sun Valley Red Maple. This would be a 6-8 foot tree that comes in a 7 gallon pot and would cost $72.00 plus $30.00 to plant, fertilize and mulch. Todd is giving us a percentage off as it would be planted on the school campus. The tree will be planted in the center of the campus. Bob told Todd that they are planning to re-do the landscaping in that area and that the tree would definitely add to the beauty of the campus. Todd will have the hole ready on Saturday morning for planting and will also have all the necessary equipment to complete the project. Everyone will be able to walk to this location following the activity at the “Prayer Chapel”. Jolanda asked Marilyn to check to see if we have to pay an up-keep charge.

Family Photo: Don reported that he had checked a couple of areas for the family picture and thought that the steps on the west side of the City Auditorium would be the safest and also more convenient for everyone.

From the Heart Gift Exchange: Mary suggested that there be a drawing of numbers for the gift exchange. She will come up with the best way to distribute the items.

Memorial and Worship Service: Marshall will contact the Rathert’s to see if they need a keyboard or anything else for the service. Marilyn and John will borrow a cross from Mary Doremus at the True Vine for the service. John will be making a special base for the cross to sit in.

Historian/History Book: All updates and stories will be sent directly to Tim and he will forward the information to Marilyn. It was suggested that all the additions (babies, young adults, and etc.) have their picture included on their page.

Timeline/Picture Wall: Jim and Marilyn will be working together on this project. As Marilyn gets the information she will forward it to Jim via e-mail, FAX or snail-mail. Jim suggested that pictures be added of Uncles and Aunts so younger generations could put families together more readily.

The matter of making sure that we don’t overspend was brought up for discussion. Following is a summary of the costs: TV rental ($100.00), tent ($275.00), tree ($130.00), band ($400.00), 18 dozen bandanas ($175.00), “Prayer Chapel” rental ($200.00), kids’ activities ($50), keyboard ($100), nametags, postage, printing, and web design. It was suggested to keep close track of spending and record “new ideas”.

Jolanda will call Kent Junge about providing cookies through his “Cookie Company”. Lori suggested having Fred check with Veterans Office about having a wheel chair available. The Holiday Inn is handicap accessible and also has four (4) room that will meet the needs of those that need these services.

Jolanda suggested having a “Newly Wed Game” for all the newly weds in the last five years and have an ongoing sheet with name and room # registered on it to make it easier to locate one another. It was also suggested to have a photo of all the “JUNGE MEN” and a picture of all the “First Cousins”.

Our next meeting will be on May 22nd, 2005 at Jolanda and Alan’s in Lincoln, NE at 2:00 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
Rosalie S. Hillmer

FEBRUARY 27, 2005

Fourteen members of the “Cuzn’ Planning Committee” gathered at the country home of Alan and Jolanda Kuzma, located east of Lincoln, NE on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Those present were: Alan and Jolanda Kuzma, Marshall and Gail Kohtz, Tim Junge, Dennis Dahlgren, Don Dahlgren, Fred and Lori Ehlers, Eugene and Mary Kohtz, Jan Sabin, Rosalie Hillmer and Marilyn Dey.

Minutes were read by Rosalie and the Treasurers Report was given by Tim. Expenses were $40.36 and we have a new balance of $570.29.

Jolanda reported that no updates have been made to the website and the shopping cart will be put on when all items and prices have been finalized.

Marilyn shared briefly about the untimely death of Jon Jackson, age 31, the husband of Christie and the father of two small children, ages 3 and 4 weeks. Jon was the Hospitality and Sales Manager at the Holiday Inn. Marilyn had been working closely with Jon in making all the necessary arrangements for our big event. Needless to say, he will be missed by many. Kyle Hovermale was teamed up with Jon and they worked great together. Kyle will be stepping in to handle all the details for us. Kyle has a great personality and will be fun to work with.

Marilyn reported that a block of rooms will be held until the 1st of June. The rooms will be $59.95 for 2 queen beds and $139.00 - $160.00 per night for 2 bed suites. There will be no extra charge for the Conference Room and the Ball Room. The “Free Suite” was discussed and the idea was rejected.

Marilyn volunteered to talk with Time Rental about renting an open sided tent in case of rain or heat. She will report at the next meeting.

Dennis, Don and Marilyn met with Kyle for prices and ideas for the meals and menus. On Friday night there will be a “Cash Bar” set up outside the hotel in the picnic area with trays of cheese and crackers, veggies and fruit served at 5:00 p.m. with the main picnic meal being served at 6:30 p.m. Lonnie Roth, friend of Lori and Fred, will cook and slice the meat. The hotel will furnish the rest of the food which will include buns, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, potato chips and sherbert ice cream for dessert with coffee and tea. Tables and chairs will be set up outdoors for everyone’s convenience.

On Saturday morning there will be a “Continental Breakfast” served from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The menu will consist of cold cereal, toast, assorted muffins, pastries, fresh fruit, orange juice, milk and coffee.

The Saturday Night Banquet will be a 2 meat buffet featuring Fried Chicken, Salisbury Steak, seven sides and dessert. There will be a “Kids Buffet” provided this year featuring chicken fingers, mini corndogs, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes w/gravy, corn, jello salad.

On Sunday morning there will be an “Elite Breakfast” served before the morning worship service. Serving will be from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The breakfast consists of scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, french toast sticks, biscuits and gravy, country potatoes, fresh fruit, orange, grapefruit and cranberry juice, milk and coffee.

Jolanda asked Dennis to have a page prepared for the website and mailing so that family members can prepay their reservations. The Culinary Committee requested that the reservations for meals be submitted by June 1, 2005.

Marilyn reported that she had sent out a letter to the “Uncles and Aunts” to write an interesting and fun page to bring us all up to date on the happenings in their families. The Dey’s will be adding family updates to the blue Maronde Family History Book and the brown Junge History Book. A page for the website will be e-mailed to Jolanda.

The memorabilia tables in the Ball Room at the Holiday Inn will be skirted and items may be put on the wall. It was suggested that families bring special items that will be displayed and shared such as heirlooms, pictures, clothing, toys, awards, etc. Mary and Gail will help Marilyn with the special memorabilia display. Grandma Lena Junge’s wedding dress will be a special part of this display and a “Wooden Family Tree” will proudly display Otto and Lena’s “Off-Springs”.

The committee will fill the Goodie Bags the weekend before the reunion. Anyone that has a special item that they would like to contribute must have it in by July 15th.

Marilyn talked with Steddon Sikes, a staff person from York College about getting extra copies of the “York College Heritage Magazine”, Winter Issue 2004, Volume 7, No. 1 which features the former St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, it’s history and it’s move to the York College Campus. Mr. Sikes will hold 200 copies at 35 cents each. It was suggested that this special magazine be placed in the Goodie Bags prepared for each family so at least one copy gets to every family with extra available if they want.

Jolanda displayed a sample piece, for an idea for a “Family Memory” for the reunion. It featured a name card, ribbon and a round wooden piece, cut from a small tree. Very clever idea.

Marilyn reported that she had talked with the photographer from the York College about taking the family picture in the sanctuary of the “Prayer Chapel“. The whole church will seat about 150 people so taking the picture inside the church is not feasible. The south side of the Chapel was suggested. The group discussed a photo at the Levitt Ball Field at East Hill Park or the Holtus Field House on East 12th Street. Don volunteered to check into the best location that would be appropriate for 200 plus people.

Marshall reported that the “Plain Label String Band” has been secured. The group will play from 7:00 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday evening. Friday evening will be a time of renewing acquaintances and having fun. The theme will be “Country” so wear your jeans, boots, and hats. Gail and Mary will look for “spoons” so everyone will be able to accompany the band. Tim will have 10 sets of “Chinese Horseshoe” available. Partners will be drawn.

Mark and Tera Dey will be in charge of the Golf Tournament, with Matt Junge as their assistant. All the arrangements have been made so everyone needs to get their reservations in by June 1, 2005.

Jolanda reported that no one had volunteered for the “Children’s/Teen’s Activities. All idea’s are appreciated.

Marshall and Chris Kohtz will be in charge of the Saturday morning activities at the “Prayer Chapel” which starts at 9:30 a.m. It will be a time when all the family gathers together and a special time of sharing and reminiscing with the Aunts and Uncles.

There was nothing to report on the Scrabble and Pitch Tournament.

The T-Shirt Committee reported that a decision on the logo had been made, the colors have been chosen and the shirts will be $8.00 each. Jolanda will need a blurb from this committee so she can get it up on the website.

Mary brought up for discussion the idea of purchasing a gift from “The Garden Gate” and have a silent auction to raise money for the next reunion. The matter was tabled.

Saturday night and the order of events was discussed. Marilyn asked for the earlier hour of 7:00 p.m., following the evening meal, for the “Baby Parade” for all the new babies, parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, if it applies. These are all babies that have been born since July of 2000 to July of 2005. Marilyn thought this event would take 30 minutes.

Tim had fun sharing with the group the latest news about his sister, Angie and her husband, Erik. He said, “Angie’s daughter is bringing a date”! She’s gonna have “TWINS”!

The Talent Show will follow at 8:00 p.m. Dennis Dahlgren volunteered to put this event together with Chris Kohtz as the Master of Ceremonies. Get your talent information to Dennis a.s.a.p. There will be a limit of 5 minutes per act.

The “From the Heart Gift Exchange” will feature a “Make, Bake or Grow” item. This event will take place following the Talent Show, with Mary in charge.

Jolanda will be working on a “Self-Guided Tour” map which will take you to points of interest pertaining to the Junge family.

Jim Junge and Marilyn will be working together on the “Timeline/Picture Wall. As the new information comes in from the families, she will be sending it on to Jim so that he can update his information.

The Toohey girls from Colorado will be working on the “Name Tags” for the reunion.

Jolanda shared that her Mother, Ruby had suggested the planting of a tree to tie together with the idea of our “Roots”. Marilyn will check with Carol Givens of York College to see if this could be possible. She will also talk with Todd Faller at Faller Nursery to ask about the best kind of tree, the size, the price and the planting of the tree.

Refreshments were served by Rosalie Hillmer and Jan Sabin.

Upcoming meetings: April 10, 2005 at the Garden Gate in York at 2:00 p.m.,
May 15, 2005 at Jolanda and Alan’s in Lincoln at 2:00 p.m., June 12, 2005 at Jolanda and Alan’s in Lincoln, at 2:00 p.m. and on July 17, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in York, NE to assemble the “Goodie Bags”.

Respectfully Submitted, Rosalie S. Hillmer

JANUARY 9, 2005

Nine members of the “Planning Committee” gathered at the Garden Café in York, NE on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Those present were: Alan and Jolanda Kuzma, Marshall and Gail Kohtz, Tim Junge, Dennis Dahlgren, Lori Ehlers, Rosalie Hillmer and Marilyn Dey.

Marshall gave a report of the updated e-mail and resident addresses. Seems that everything is pretty current. He had three letters returned and Marilyn volunteered to get him the correct mailing addresses.

Marshall brought an audio recording of the “Plain Label String Band” of Lincoln, NE for the group to listen to and give their opinion. The committee gave their unanimous vote and asked Marshall to check with the spokesman of the group to secure the Friday night of the reunion. Marshall felt that he could negotiate the cost with the group and will report at the meeting.

The Treasurers report was given by Tim showing expenses of $152.16 and a balance of $480.00. He also reported that the response has been slow in coming in. The Paypal portion has been working well on the website. Jolanda will look into the cost per transaction for using Paypal to pay for registration and etc. It seems that the cost was a little elevated in comparison to what was first discussed. Tim and Jolanda will also be figuring out how to put a shopping cart on the site.

Marilyn reported that she had heard from Jon Jackson, Sales Manager, representing Holiday Inn. The Bar-B-Que outside the main building has been approved. They also gave the o.k. for a liquor permit on the premises for the Friday evening activity.

The committee discussed the Bar-B-Que which is scheduled for Friday evening. Marilyn will check with Jon and Kyle about the tables, chairs, dinner service and etc. for the Friday evening dinner.

It was suggested that we have the hotel prepare the side dishes for the Friday evening event and have Alan and Eugene prepare the pork loins in a cooker. Lori suggested the name of her neighbor, Lonnie Roth, who has a catering service and a “cooker”. Lori will check with him and report back to the committee.

Marshall presented the meat prices and etc. that were furnished by Scott Kohtz, an employee of CashWa, Kearney, NE. He has offered to get the meat for the event at his cost. It was suggested by Alan that 10 to 12oz. of meat per person would be adequate or a total of 150 lbs. of pork loins. Dennis also suggested that the meat could be purchased from his employer also.

Dennis and Marilyn will meet with Jon Jackson and Kyle Hovermale about the food preparation for the entire event. This includes the Bar-B-Que on Friday night with the Holiday Inn doing the meat and sides and also figuring only the sides for that event, one Continental Breakfast for Saturday morning, one 2 meat Buffet for Saturday night and a Brunch for Sunday morning. A report on the cost involved with be given at the next meeting.

Marilyn was asked to check with Jon Jackson for how long the hotel will hold a block of rooms, when will the “contract” be ready to sign and see if it would be possible to get a “late check out” on Sunday morning. A report will be given.

Marilyn presented the “Guidelines For Use Of The York College Prayer Chapel” to the committee. She talked with Mrs. Patsy Junge, wife of Merrill Junge in LaMirada, California about her days spent on the York College Campus back in the early 1950’s. Patsy qualifies as an alumni of York College and therefore, the price of rental would be reduced considerably. Marilyn will follow up on getting all the paper work completed and will talk with Carol Givens, Secretary to President Wayne Baker, to secure Saturday, July 23rd, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. for a family gathering at the York College “Prayer Chapel”, the former St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The church holds many memories for this family.

It was suggested that the “Prayer Chapel” would be a great place to have a “family photo” taken since everyone will be dressed in their colored t-shirts. Having the photo taken from upstairs in the balcony of the church would make a nice setting. They discussed a photographer but tabled the matter until the next meeting.

The plans for the “Golf Tournament” have been completed by Mark and Tera Dey as follows: The tournament is scheduled for Friday, July 22nd with tee times from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. due to leagues in the morning and early evening. Price will be $45.00 per person which includes, 18 holes of golf, cart and flag prizes.

Doug and Marilyn would appreciate it if each family would please submit the additions to their families as soon as possible. This may include new babies, marriages, divorces, or deaths. Remember to refer to the blue “Maronde History Book” and submit all the information required which includes names and dates. This way we will continue the great work that Raymond and Ruth Junge began back in 1988 when the original books were published. The Dey’s will have all this information complied and ready for each family having the “Maronde History Book in their possession. They will need to know exactly how many history books are out there so they can have an adequate number of sets completed and available at the reunion.

At this time we do not have a “Chairperson” for the “Memorabilia Table” so any one that would like to take on this responsibility, please get in contact with Jolanda or Marshall. The eleven memorabilia tables of family branches will also be handled by this individual.

We are also still in need of someone to be in charge of the Kid’s activities. Marilyn suggested using a wooden “Family Tree” that her mother, Ruth Junge had contributed at the 1993 Reunion. The plan is to have all the families represented on this wooden structure. It also matches the logo of the family tree to be used on the t-shirts.

Rosalie reported on the cost of the t-shirts and it was agreed to charge $7.50 per t-shirt for all sizes. Following is the selection of colors that were drawn for each of the eleven family branches. Raymond - Green Mist, Josephine - Royal Blue, Mildred - Maroon, Eleanor - Jade, Wally - Red, Laura - Fossil Gray, Gladys - Deep Purple, Betty - Kelly Green, Ruth Ann - Navy, Jim - Periblue and Mert - Forest Green.

The family logo to be used on the t-shirts is being adjusted by J & M Monogram and will be ready at our next meeting.

It was reported that two babies have been born: Mason Thomas Smith born on November 10th, 2004 to Adam and Honalee Smith and Madeline Kay Rathert born on December 11th, 2004 to Greg and Julie Rathert. Tim Junge proudly announced that his sister and brother-in-law, Eric and Angela (Junge) Wilcoxson are expecting a baby in July of 2005. It looks like this baby will be the youngest member of the family at the reunion, like Angie was in 1981.

Final plans for the reunion are beginning to take shape as the “Scrabble and Pitch Tournaments” are scheduled for Saturday afternoon. The “Baby Parade”, the “Talent Show” and the “Gift Exchange” will be a part of the Saturday evening activities following the meal.

Our next meeting will be on February 27th, 2005 at the home of Alan and Jolanda Kuzma at 2:00 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted, Rosalie (Junge) Hillmer

NOVEMBER 14, 2004

Ten members of the “Planning Committee” gathered at the Garden Gate in York, NE on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Those present were: Tim Junge, Doug and Marilyn Dey, Don Dahlgren, Dennis Dahlgren, Jolanda Junge-Kuzma, Marshall and Gail Kohtz, Lori Ehlers, and Rosalie Hillmer

Marilyn introduced Jon Jackson, Sales Manager, and Kyle Hovermale, Operations Manager, at the Holiday Inn to the committee. Both gentlemen came with excitement and enthusiasm about being such an intricate part of this wonderful family reunion. Jon and Kyle first shared about the re-decorating project of the exterior of the Holiday Inn. This project should be completed just prior to the July date of the reunion. Their projected plans are to have available outdoor receptions with tables, chairs and wet bar. This brought up the question about having an outdoor Bar-B-Que. They are more than happy to let us “Grill or Smoke” the meat for the event and they offered to do the sides. A beer garden was discussed. Final decisions to be made at a later date.

Jon was interested in what we did at the last reunion. Marshall shared a quick over-view of the three day event. Both Jon and Kyle were extremely impressed.

The subject of music for the Friday night Bar-B-Que was discussed. Jon and Kyle shared with the committee that having music would not be problem. Marshall suggested a group from Lincoln, NE called “The Plain Label String Band”. Marshall will make contact with them to make sure that they have an open calendar for July 22, 2005.

The question was presented to Jon and Kyle about securing a block of rooms for the reunion and if we could get a price quote at this time. Jon shared that the Holiday Inn has 128 rooms and 4 suites available for guests. An amount of $54.95 was quoted for the rooms and the suites range from $139.00 to $160.00 per night. Jon suggested a drawing for a “Complimentary Suite” as a special attraction to encourage people to register as soon as possible. After looking over the numbers of people that could possibly attend it was decided that 80 rooms would probably be sufficient. Just for the record, 60 - 62 rooms were occupied for the 2000 family reunion.

Jon extended an invitation to any out of town guests that may be coming into York to help make plans for the upcoming reunion. The room rate of $54.95 would be made available for them as well.

It was recommended to have a “greeter” at the desk to greet the guests upon their arrival and checking in. Family members will be assigned at a later time to serve as greeters.

Having “child care” available for parents that would be at the reunion was suggested by Jon. He will be asking employees to see if there is any interest.

The question of providing a “Continental Breakfast” for Saturday and Sunday morning was asked of Jon. For $3.95 per person a selection of cereals, muffins, toast, a selection of fruit, juices and coffee or tea could be made available. They would take into consideration that there would be children so they would put some thought into selections offered. More will be reported at the next meeting.

The representatives of the Holiday Inn were asked about the cost involved in using the Ballroom. It was reported that at the reunion in 2000 the committee was charged $300.00 for the use of the room. Jon and Kyle offered the room to the committee as part of the package so there will not be a charge for 2005. A key will be made available to the person in charge of making sure the room gets locked at the end of the day. Family members are encouraged to use the room to gather to visit and etc.

There was discussion on renting a large screen television and VCR to have the past reunion videos playing during the reunion. The group discussed the best place to have the family picture taken. Jon offered to check out the feasibility of taking the picture from the roof of the Holiday Inn. He will report at the next meeting.

It was suggested that each of the eleven families would have an eight foot table to display labeled historical memorabilia of their family. Each family would be responsible for their table. It was also suggested to have Grandma Lena’s wedding dress displayed. Marilyn will talk with Jon and Kyle about the tables and perhaps having them skirted to be more attractive.

Marshall complimented Jan Sabin for all her hard work in completing the mailing and e-mail addresses and bringing the birth order sheets up to date. Marshall feels that all the addresses are now in good shape.

Treasurer, Tim reported that there is a balance of $461.83 in the treasury and that there were already some fees coming in through the family website.

It was reported that a “Shopping Cart” will be set up on the website to make choices in the areas of: registration, meals, tee shirts and etc.

Rosalie and Lori reported on the tee shirts. The following prices and information were secured from J and M Monogram in York, NE. $6.50 per tee shirt - youth and adult. Adult sizes 2XL add $2.00 each and for the adult sizes 3XL add $3.00 each. There will be a 7% sales tax added. The girls will give a complete total at the next meeting and the colors for each family will be selected later. It was decided to have the printing of the logo on the front of the shirt with no printing on the back. Rosalie will ask J and M to work on the graphic.

A suggestion was made that everyone bring items for the “Goody Bag”.

The Sunday church service was discussed at length. Marshall will contact David Junge about the church service. Marilyn will contact Carol Givens, secretary to President Wayne Baker about the possibilities of holding a family event at the church. She will report at the next meeting.

Marilyn reported that the plans are starting to come together for the “Baby Parade” for the 21 new babies that have come into this family since the last reunion in July of 2000. We are expecting 2 babies before the end of the year so that will make 23 new babies.

An e-mail from Jim Junge was discussed. Jim has some great ideas to bring the “Time Line” back with even more information and perhaps even pictures this time. It was suggested that each family have a “Picture Board” of their families to bring everyone up to date. Each family would be responsible for their own display.

Marshall suggested that Teresa, Tami and Michelle take care of the name tags. He will be talking with family members at their Thanksgiving gathering to see how they would like to help.

Refreshments of coffee and iced tea were served by Lori. Special cookies were served from the ovens of Kent and Ellen Junge.

Our next meeting will be on Sunday, January 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Lori’s Garden Gate in York, NE

Respectfully Submitted, Rosalie (Junge) Hillmer

Rosalie read the minutes of the last meeting. Minutes were approved. It was suggested that copies of the minutes be made for all in attendance.

Tim reported that a checking account for the reunion has been set up at a bank in Lincoln, NE. The reunion website has been set up so that all payments can be made through PayPal right on the site. It was agreed that each family be assessed $10.00 per family member to defray expenses of the reunion.

Jolanda and Marshall opened the meeting with general comments on information that has been coming in on new members in the family, change of addresses and e-mail address updates. Jan Sabin has compiled all the new information and forwarded it to Marshall for the record. Jolanda reported that the website is still under construction and will be completed soon. The website address is www.junge2005.com .

Marilyn reported that she had made contact with the Holiday Inn and that the dates of July 22, 23, 24, 2005 had been secured. It was suggested that the representatives of Banquet and Sales be invited to our next meeting to inform us of costs of blocks of rooms, banquet set up and etc. Marilyn will take care of the invitation.

Dennis mentioned that his committee had nothing to report. Marshall shared that Scott Kohtz works for CashWa of Kearney, Nebraska and would like an opportunity to contribute his expertise in the area of food service. Jolanda reported that she and Alan had stopped at the Sandy Meadows Golf Course to check out the bar-b-que equipment. They have a grill and a smoker but, a short supply of picnic tables.

Jolanda reported that we would not have the golf course to ourselves on Saturday morning as the course would be open to the public. Friday morning would work better as they would close the course for us.

Marilyn noted that the family history book details are slow in coming from family members. Jolanda mentioned that there is a paragraph requesting that information on the website as well as in the letter that went out to family members that do not have an e-mail address.

It was suggested to have a large map of the United States and earmark the locations of all the family members. Also, to get ahold of Jim Junge and see if he could put his finger on the “Time Line” that he put together for the 2000 reunion so that it could be updated. Marilyn will contact him. It was decided that when it comes to souvenirs we should keep the business local.

Lori asked about “grab bag items”. It was decided that this would be a good idea. More discussion at our next meeting.

It was suggested to include the names of Mary Beth (White) Jacobs, Jennifer (White) Doane, Teresa (Toohey) Kronkow, Tami Toohey and Michele (Toohey) Hall to our list of volunteers.

Lori served coffee and iced tea and Jolanda shared her special birthday cake with all of us as her birthday was on September 11th.
